Christmas gifts for your neighbors
Sometimes thinking about your neighbors at Christmas is the best way to get into their good books for the whole year round.
Spreading a bit of holiday cheer is so easy to do and this wonderfully festive time of year and handing something as simple as a small but well thought up gift to your neighbors could make the difference between a civil “Good morning” to a full blown friend.
A handful of Christmas gift ideas
There are so many things that you can buy and also make to spread the holiday cheer to your neighbors for Christmas 2010 and perhaps the best place that you can start is right in your own kitchen. Why not bake them some holiday cookies and take them around in a cute hamper with a red ribbon and perhaps a few chocolates thrown in for good measure. You could even consider making them a Christmas cake to take round and you never know, you might even get an invitation to have a bite with them!
If creativity in the kitchen is not really your thing then sometimes a nice bottle of wine can do the trick. This is a great mature present but can be a bad gift to give them especially if they don’t drink. Alcohol is a sticky subject for neighbors but if you know them well enough, you should be able to get this just right. Just remember to not buy the cheapest bottle of wine that you can get your hands on especially if you want to make a good impression.
Generic gifts that work
If you are not really fond of your neighbors but want to make a good impression anyway then there are a few “generic” style gifts that basically suit everyone. Scented and nice looking candles are always a great place to start but it is advised to stay away from toiletries such as bath bubbles as these are a little too generic. You might even want to consider something slightly more thoughtful such as pretty photo frames or nice ornaments that you know will match the interior of your neighbor’s home. Again, if you have never seen the inside of their home, you might want to steer clear of this idea.
Things to remember
If you have elderly neighbors then they might not have the same sense of humor as you do so try to steer clear away from anything that has a “naughty” side to it or anything that is trying to inject too much humor. You can, by all means, take this approach if you get on really well with your neighbors and class them to be friends but if you are not at this point, it will be very easy to get the Christmas gifts wrong.
