How to buy a skateboard as a gift

Skateboard giftTo buy a skateboard as a gift is not as easy as it seems because this little piece of wood mounted on four wheels is in reality an extremely specialized bit of apparatus. It is made up of many parts, all of which work together to give the best possible ride. This apart, each person’s personal style of riding, the amount of money you are willing to spend and the environment, determine the kind of skateboard you should buy for the recipient. Here are some guidelines to help you select the right type of skateboard, appropriate for the recipient’s riding style.

A few suggestions

  1. First and foremost, determine the level of expertise which the recipient has with a skateboard. If he/ she is a young child and a beginner make sure that you do not buy a cheap children’s skateboard from a neighboring toy store. Many manufacturers mass produce their skateboards with little respect for the quality of their product.
  2. For the first skateboard, simply choose one you like the look of. As your child learns to skateboard, he/ she will slowly understand what they like, and then you can buy them a board that fits their style more.
  3. Buying skateboards for adult beginners is not very difficult. Lots of manufacturers make starter skateboards that are tailor made for adults. Here also the same philosophy holds - that a cheap and poorly constructed board is tempting but dangerous.
  4. The width of the board depends upon where the recipient plans to skate. If he/ she plans to skate at a skate park, vert-ramp or pool, you will need to get a wide skateboard, while skateboarding around a school yard, in front of the house, at a skate plaza or for doing tricks, requires a narrower board. A standard board should be around 8 inches wide.

Do’s

  • It is a good idea to get a helmet as well as good pair of basic shoes along with the skateboard to complete the gear.

Don’ts

  • Do not skimp on the skateboard and buy one from a cheap store, it can be dangerous. A sturdy but basic skateboard should cost around $70 to $100.

    Hi guys
I’m looking to whiten my teeth but not sure which whitening kit is the best and was wondering if anyone had any advice.

I tried the crest whitestrips and they didn’t keep my teeth white.. they started turning yellow after a week or two.

Sorry if its a bit off-topic but I really need some advice as I am attending my high school reunion next week and don’t want yellow teeth :)

    Thanks!
